Cameroon’s industrial zone management agency, MAGZI, has escalated pressure on companies with unpaid rent across the country’s industrial parks. In a statement dated May 15, MAGZI Director General Christol Georges Manon called on the companies concerned to settle outstanding payments without delay.
The document targets businesses “still owing MAGZI significant sums in overdue and unpaid rental fees” and urges them to “honor their contractual obligations” by paying the amounts owed no later than May 30, 2026.
The warning is explicit. “After this deadline, they expose themselves to termination of their lease agreements,” MAGZI stated in the notice signed in Yaoundé. The document lists 29 companies spread across three industrial zones: 12 in Bassa, in Douala; 7 in Bonabéri; and 10 in Yaoundé. Companies named in the Bassa industrial zone include African Pool, Laboratoire Biopharma, Batimetal, CNCC, Kaffes et Denrées, and Futura Industries.
In Bonabéri, the list includes Solevo, Camtel, Cameroon Alert System, Sanaga Boissons, and Tamso. The Yaoundé section names companies including Baticonfort, Camtel, Les Grandes Éditions, Fruitscam, World Distributions, and Yao Pharm. By publicly releasing the names of the companies involved, MAGZI appears to be using public pressure to push tenants to clear their rent arrears before the deadline.
The statement, however, does not specify the total amount owed, the age of the unpaid balances, or the exact procedures that could lead to lease termination. That lack of financial detail leaves uncertainty around the full scale of the dispute. Still, MAGZI’s message remains clear: the companies named have until May 30, 2026 to regularize their situation or risk losing their lease agreements within Cameroon’s industrial zones.
