Chad Eyes Cameroon’s Experience to Reshape Its Postal Sector

A delegation from the Chadian Postal and Savings Company visited Cameroon from April 28 to May 4 to study the experience of Cameroon Postal Services (Campost), the country’s public operator for postal and financial services.

In Yaoundé, Chadian officials examined the infrastructure supporting Campost’s modernization efforts. The visit included the company’s data center and hybrid mail center, both seen as central to its shift toward more efficient and digital services.

Discussions also covered Campost’s digital financial platforms, including CAMO, CAMPOSTPAY, and MEI. Through this visit, N’Djamena is looking for practical ways to revive a postal sector facing familiar challenges across the region, including digital disruption, financial sustainability, and service relevance.

During a meeting at Cameroon’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Chadian delegation said it aimed to draw lessons from successful regional experiences to improve performance, competitiveness, and modernization in Chad’s postal system.

Talks with Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng focused on upgrading postal infrastructure, expanding financial services, and sharing approaches to governance, innovation, and digitalization, according to Chad’s Ministry of Telecommunications, Digital Economy, and Administrative Reform.

For Chadian authorities, the mission is part of a broader effort to reposition the postal sector as a tool for economic development, financial inclusion, and national connectivity. By looking to Campost, Chad is prioritizing regional experience over imported models.

Still, key questions remain about how much of Cameroon’s approach can be adapted to Chad’s market and how quickly reforms can be implemented. The real test will lie in execution.
