Cameroon’s Feicom approves CFA367.2bn budget for 2026, up 18%

2026 budget rises by CFA58.3 billion from 2025

  • Feicom says it collected CFA235 billion for local governments in 2025
  • Fund reports strong execution of transfers and local investments

Cameroon’s Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (Feicom) approved its 2026 budget on December 19, with total resources and expenditures balanced at CFA367.2 billion. The envelope represents an increase of CFA58.3 billion from the 2025 budget, equivalent to a rise of 18%.

Often described as the financial arm of decentralized local governments, including municipalities and regions, Feicom said it collected CFA235 billion on behalf of these entities over the past year. The fund said this result corresponds to an achievement rate of 118% of its annual targets, pointing to stronger financial flows in support of local development.

On the operational side, Feicom reported several achievements. It said it distributed CFA177.7 billion to municipalities, granted 214 financial facilities to 154 municipalities and regions for a total cost of CFA23.9 billion, and received 337 public infrastructures and pieces of equipment. According to the fund, these figures reflect a sustained pace of execution, with expected effects on local investment and access to public services.

Feicom linked this trajectory to the performance recorded in 2024. In May, the fund said it had mobilized CFA314 billion in financial resources, compared with a target of CFA292 billion. It also reported that equalization resources transferred to municipalities and urban communities during the year reached CFA132 billion, according to its board of directors.
