Cameroon and Tunisia are seeking to strengthen investment cooperation and support networks for women-led businesses across Africa through a programme combining incubation, acceleration and international mentoring initiatives.
The initiative was discussed during a Cameroon-Tunisia economic conference on female entrepreneurship held in Douala, bringing together officials from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax in Tunisia, the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts (CCIMA), investors and entrepreneurship support organisations.
Officials said the programme aligns with broader efforts to deepen intra-African economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), notably through stronger regional value chains, cross-border partnerships and local resource transformation.
The programme targets women entrepreneurs, innovative start-ups and technology-focused small and medium-sized enterprises from several African countries, including Cameroon, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, Algeria and Tunisia.
As part of the initiative, a delegation led by the Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax, Hichem Elloumi, visited Bafoussam in Cameroon’s West Region between May 11 and 12 to identify women-owned businesses considered to have strong development potential and capable of benefiting from financial and technical support.
