Austrian company VACE Systemtechnik GmbH has won a 10 million euro contract, equivalent to approximately 6.5 billion CFA francs, to build and equip a vocational training center in Ntui, in the Mbam-et-Kim department of Cameroon’s Centre region.
The contract was signed on March 31, 2026, in Yaounde between Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Mounouna Foutsou and Johann Sesser, representing the Austrian company.
The project will be financed through a 19-year loan from Unicredit Bank Austria AG backed by Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB). On May 4, 2026, President Paul Biya signed a decree authorizing Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development Alamine Ousmane Mey to secure the 6.5 billion CFA franc loan.
According to project documents, the construction and equipment phase is expected to last 24 months, followed by six months of training support. The center is expected to offer programs focused on industry, digital technology and agro-industry.
Through the project, Cameroonian authorities aim to strengthen vocational training capacity in the Mbam-et-Kim department and improve young people’s job prospects.
The project is part of a broader program to modernize vocational training facilities run by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. It also marks the arrival of a new technical partner in a segment where South Korea has until now played a leading role, notably through training centers in Douala, Sangmelima and Limbe.
