Cameroon’s long-running tire manufacturing project backed by businessman Antoine Ndzengue has taken another step forward after Indian engineering group GHV Infra Projects Limited announced it had received a letter of intent linked to the future plant.

According to information released by GHV, Cameroon Tyres Factory Project SA plans to award the company an EPC contract — covering engineering, procurement, and construction — for a tire manufacturing facility in Bekoko, on the outskirts of Douala.

The proposed project involves the turnkey construction of a greenfield factory with annual production capacity estimated at 7.6 million tires. The planned contract is valued at €630 million before taxes, equivalent to around CFA413 billion, with a projected execution period of 36 months from the official launch order.

GHV stated that Cameroon Tyres Factory Project SA is the entity behind the project and specified that the operation qualifies as an international contract unrelated to any transaction between affiliated parties.
