(Business in Cameroon) – ST Digital, a Cameroonian IT services company, and Rhopen Labs, the African branch of France’s Rhopen Group, have launched Soc4Africa, the first Security Operations Center (SOC) built and managed entirely in Africa. This new center will centralize the monitoring, detection, and response to cybersecurity incidents across the continent.
Soc4Africa aims to strengthen Africa’s digital sovereignty by providing high-level, locally managed cybersecurity solutions tailored to the region’s needs. Anthony Same, CEO of ST Digital, said during a July 4, 2025, press conference in Douala, “We help many companies implement cybersecurity policies, and partnering with Rhopen Labs will help our businesses identify the threats they face.”
François-Xavier Djimgou, president of Rhopen Labs, added, “This technical and commercial alliance shows that Africa can produce strong, sovereign, and competitive cybersecurity solutions.”
The launch comes as Africa’s rapid digital transformation creates unprecedented cyber risks. The 2024 Global Cybersecurity Forum & BCG report found that over 60% of cyberattacks target Africa, far above the global average. Interpol estimates the average ransomware attack costs African victims $5.13 million. Russian Cybersecurity giant Kaspersky recorded 19 million cyberattacks in Cameroon alone in 2024.
Soc4Africa directly addresses these challenges. The new SOC will offer organizations affordable, locally developed solutions, avoiding the expensive, often unsuitable foreign cybersecurity products many African companies rely on. By hosting all data within Africa, Soc4Africa ensures secure, transparent, and contextually relevant cyber defense. ST Digital and Rhopen Labs say the SOC’s flexible services will adapt to the needs and budgets of small and medium-sized enterprises.
