Sodecoton Invests CFA250mln in New Weighbridges for Northern Sites

(Business in Cameroon) – The Cotton Development Company (Sodecoton) has launched an international tender to hire companies for the supply, installation, and commissioning of two electronic weighbridges at its sites in Maroua and Tchatibali, located in the Far North region. This information comes from a notice signed by the company’s general manager, Mohamadou Bayero. These weighbridges will be used to weigh goods transported by trucks and other heavy vehicles.

The project will be financed with CFA250 million, including taxes, from Sodecoton’s 2024 budget, based on preliminary cost estimates. The weighbridges must be delivered within 180 days from the service order. In addition, considering the high volume of goods being weighed year-round, Sodecoton requires that the selected contractors provide a temporary weighbridge with a capacity of at least 60 tons at the Maroua site to ensure uninterrupted service during the installation.

Interested companies must submit their applications by October 1, 2024, to Sodecoton’s headquarters in Garoua.

These new weighbridges will help Sodecoton efficiently weigh goods transported by trucks at its Maroua and Tchatibali sites. Established in 1974, Sodecoton is a mixed-capital agro-industrial unit that supports over 220,000 cotton farmers in northern Cameroon, producing cotton and oil.
