SAGO 2026: Government Courts Private Sector to Accelerate Cameroon’s Emergence

The 15th edition of the Government Action Fair (SAGO 2026), scheduled to take place from 6 to 13 June 2026 at the Esplanade of Yaounde City Hall, is expected to serve as a platform for mobilising private sector investment in Cameroon. Preparations for the event are already underway, with a formal coordination meeting recently held at the Ministry of Communication in Yaounde.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Communication, alongside Mon Communicateur, the government-appointed firm mandated to organise the fair.

According to stakeholders, the session focused on reviewing the results of the previous edition and aligning strategic and operational priorities for the upcoming 2026 event.

During the meeting, Félix Zogo, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communication, said the gathering marked the first formal preparatory session for the new edition, following several earlier technical consultations.

He added that several African countries would also be invited as guests of honour in a bid to expand the international dimension of the fair.

New features for 2026

According to organisers, the 2026 edition will introduce several structural innovations aimed at expanding its economic and territorial reach.

One of the main additions is the “Village of the Ten Regions,” which will give each of Cameroon’s ten administrative regions a dedicated space to showcase their economic potential, development projects, and cultural and tourism assets. The initiative aims to promote the investment attractiveness of the country’s regions.

Another innovation is the “Skills and Trades Village,” intended to highlight technical professions, promote youth entrepreneurship and connect young people with employment opportunities.

In addition, the Local Consumption Village will be expanded with support from the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development to promote “Made in Cameroon” products and support local small and medium-sized enterprises.

Building on the results of the previous edition

The 14th edition of SAGO, held in 2024, reportedly attracted more than 200,000 visitors and brought together numerous public administrations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and private sector actors.

The programme included institutional exhibitions, sectoral conferences, professional meetings and a village dedicated to local consumption and SMEs.

Organisers say the evaluation report from that edition provided key recommendations that are now guiding preparations for SAGO 2026. These include strengthening the international participation of the fair, promoting the economic potential of Cameroon’s regions, supporting youth employment initiatives, and reinforcing the promotion of locally produced goods.

Authorities also indicated that the next edition will continue positioning the event as a forum for presenting government reforms while encouraging dialogue between public institutions and economic operators.

Public-private partnership at the centre of the 2026 edition

According to officials, the upcoming fair will be organised under the theme “State-Private Sector Partnership: A Lever for an Emerging Cameroon.”

Public-private partnerships are viewed as a strategic mechanism for boosting investment, modernising infrastructure, and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship. The theme also aligns with the country’s National Development Strategy (NDS30), which identifies the private sector as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.

Within this framework, the fair is expected to provide a platform where public administrations can present policy initiatives while engaging with private sector stakeholders and development partners.

Created fifteen years ago, the Government Action Fair has developed into a major public communication platform through which government institutions present reforms and development programmes while engaging with citizens, businesses and development partners.

Each edition attracts a diverse audience including government officials, business leaders, development partners, students and members of the general public.
