SABC claims CFA100mln investment in water projects across Cameroon in 2023

(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroonian brewer SABC claimed it has built 11 potable water wells nationwide in 2023. These projects, part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy, cost a total of CFA100 million, we learned.

“These water points, equipped with hand pumps, have been installed in the localities of Meri and Gazawa in the Far North region; Pitoa and Gaschiga in the North; Nkong-Zem in the West; Loum in the Littoral; Limbé in the Southwest; Akonolinga and Edinding in the Center; Kribi in the South; and Bertoua in the East,” said the company.

SABC explained that its goal was to alleviate the severe water shortages affecting these communities. The wells aim to provide thousands of people with access to clean water, combat waterborne diseases such as cholera, and bring hope and happiness to the affected populations.

“With these projects, we continue our civic commitment to the main pillars of our CSR strategy,” said Stéphane Descazeaud, SABC’s General Manager. “This includes encouraging school performance through scholarships and school supplies for top students, donating medical supplies and equipment to improve hospital care, providing potable water, promoting sports, arts, and culture, and supporting entrepreneurship.”
