(Business in Cameroon) – Construction of the Kumbo–Ndu road in Cameroon’s North-West region is progressing slower than expected, according to the Ministry of Public Works (Mintp). As of November 1, 2025, the project had reached 43.48% completion, while 84.23% of the contractual time had already been used.
Public Works Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi has urged the contractor, Bun’s Sarl, to accelerate work to meet deadlines. Despite heavy rainfall and a challenging security situation, the ministry said coordinated efforts by the project owner, supervisor, and contractor have ensured continued progress and traffic flow.
Several key stages have been completed. Topographic surveys and site clearing—including bush clearing, cleaning, deforestation, and removal of topsoil—are finished along the entire 39 km stretch.
Earthworks have reached 86.58% completion, with cut-and-fill operations nearly done across the route. The road platform is complete on the last 11 km, where both the foundation and base layers have been laid.
Work on drainage infrastructure is also advancing, with the prefabrication and installation of curbs and gutters in progress. About 4,000 linear meters have been installed so far, according to Mintp data.
Once completed, the Kumbo–Ndu road will become a strategic transport corridor for the North-West region, improving the movement of people and goods, facilitating access to hospitals, schools, and markets, and helping open up rural areas while strengthening economic links between regional hubs.
