In Bertoua, a Little-Known French Firm Eyes Entry Into Energy Projects

  • Venture Nexus has presented renewable energy solutions to Bertoua’s authorities

  • The company is positioning on solar and electricity access projects, still at an early stage

  • Limited public track record and small size raise questions about its capacity

A French consulting firm, Venture Nexus, has begun discussions with local authorities in Bertoua as it explores opportunities in the city’s energy sector.

The company’s head, Thomas Roelle, met on March 16 with Mayor Jean Marie Dimbele Sodea in the capital of Cameroon’s East region. According to a statement from the municipality, the visit focused on presenting solutions in renewable energy, particularly solar power and improved access to electricity.

Founded in 2016, Venture Nexus describes itself as a consulting and project support firm active in automotive, energy, and mechanical engineering. It highlights expertise in market analysis, international development strategies, and support for companies expanding across borders, especially between France and Germany.

In Bertoua, the firm is positioning itself on the design, structuring, and implementation of energy projects. Local officials say discussions remain at an early stage. “This was an initial contact, held in a constructive spirit, to exchange on local energy challenges and explore possible areas of cooperation,” a municipal official said.

Potential projects outlined by the company include supplying electricity to neighborhoods, villages, and large complexes through centralized solutions, supporting industrial sites with energy services, and developing tailored systems for high-consumption households.

City authorities say they are interested in leveraging the firm’s expertise across several areas, including assessing energy needs in urban and rural zones, identifying sites for solar installations, structuring projects from a technical and financial standpoint, securing funding, and coordinating implementation from design to operation, with an emphasis on integrating local skills where possible.

For now, Venture Nexus is focused on understanding the regulatory environment, local needs, and government priorities before identifying viable projects. This exploratory phase is intended to assess the feasibility of future partnerships.

Questions remain, however, about the company’s scale and track record. Venture Nexus appears to have a limited public profile, and France’s official business registry lists only one employee—its director, Thomas Gerhard Roelle. During the visit, he was accompanied by business development manager Mireille Kombo, who is better known in the events sector as a producer.
