Housing Bank CFC Readies Another CFAF30Bln for Municipal Housing

(Business in Cameroon) – Crédit Foncier du Cameroun (CFC), a financial institution specializing in housing, plans to inject an additional 30 billion CFA francs into the Municipal Housing Construction Program (PCCM). Jean Calvin Tjonog, CFC’s Deputy Director General, announced the prospective funding on June 10, 2025, during the opening of the 3rd Urban Planning and Construction Days (JUD) in Douala.

This funding, pending approval by the CFC’s board of directors, will be allocated to the Special Fund for Equipment and Inter-Municipal Intervention (Feicom), Cameroon’s municipal bank, to finance municipal housing construction over a five-year period. Details regarding the number of housing units and beneficiary municipalities have not yet been disclosed.

The new financing is expected to expand the number of participating municipalities, increase the country’s housing stock, and create more jobs in the affordable housing construction sector.

This latest injection follows previous commitments. In July 2020, an initial 10 billion CFA franc credit line, a partnership between CFC, Feicom, and the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon (UCCC), enabled 24 municipalities to build 594 housing units. A second 20 billion CFA franc line of credit was allocated in June 2021 to continue the program.

In a December 2024 interview, Jean Paul Missi, CFC’s General Manager, stated that the PCCM had been implemented in 87 municipalities, resulting in 1,500 constructed housing units with a total investment of 30 billion CFA francs. The program also aims to engage 1,200 young people on construction sites and foster the creation of approximately 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specializing in housing construction within beneficiary municipalities.

This new funding underscores a sustained effort to address Cameroon’s social housing needs and stimulate local employment in the construction sector nationwide.
