Douala Airport Allocates CFA500mln for Jet Blast Barriers

(Business in Cameroon) – The Airports of Cameroon (ADC) has awarded contracts to two Cameroonian companies for the fabrication, installation, and supervision of jet blast barriers at the cargo area of Douala International Airport. This decision, signed by ADC’s General Manager Thomas Owona Assoumou on August 27, outlines the project details.

Jet blast barriers are structures designed to protect airport operational areas from the powerful air expulsions from aircraft engines. These barriers are typically placed near aircraft parking and taxiing areas to reduce the space needed for safe aeronautical operations.

Specifically, the company Dik’s Business Group will handle the fabrication and installation of the jet blast barriers for a total cost of CFA485.5 million, including taxes. The work is expected to be completed within four months.

Meanwhile, the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), a global leader in inspection, verification, testing, and certification, will be responsible for the technical supervision and monitoring of the project over five months. This supervision contract is valued at CFA42.9 million, including taxes.

These works are part of the certification process for Douala International Airport.
