(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon’s Supply Chain Information System (SIF), which helps cocoa producers track market prices, reported a significant rise in cocoa bean prices in recent weeks. On November 25, 2024, prices at the Douala port ranged from CFA4,000 to CFA4,200 per kilogram.
This marks an increase of CFA400 to CFA450 compared to November 8, 2024, when prices were between CFA3,400 and CFA3,750.
The SIF, managed by the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC), helps farmers negotiate better deals with buyers by providing transparent pricing data.
During the ongoing 2024–2025 cocoa harvest season, which officially started in August 2024, prices remain lower than those of the 2023–2024 season. During that record-breaking season, the price per kilogram peaked at CFA6,000, setting a global benchmark.
Cocoa is one of Cameroon’s key export products. In 2023, the country exported 180,095 tons of raw cocoa beans, generating over CFA359 billion in revenue, according to a report from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). This export volume was 55,445 tons less than in 2022 and accounted for 12% of Cameroon’s total export earnings in 2023.
