(Business in Cameroon) – On April 3, 2025, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, Governor of the aLittoral Region, laid the foundation stone for the Douala-Dibamba Eastern Park at Missolè II, located just 10 kilometers from Douala. This 74-hectare park represents a CFA36 billion investment from China Eastern Park Company. The project marks the beginning of construction after two years of discussions between the Douala Urban Community (CUD) and Chinese investors about finding the right location.
Initially planned for Douala, the park’s location was shifted to Dibamba, in the Sanaga-Maritime department, due to space constraints in the city. The park will be developed in two phases: the first phase will include a large aquatic park and a five-star themed hotel, both expected to be completed by Christmas 2026. The second phase, following the completion of the first, will add a terrestrial park and a second five-star hotel.
According to Agbortokoh Randy, Deputy General Manager of the Douala-Dibamba Eastern Park, the project will generate over 1,000 direct jobs and more than 3,000 indirect jobs. The total economic impact is expected to exceed CFA600 billion annually, benefiting various sectors.
This inclusive development project is not only a symbol of innovation for Missolè II but also an opportunity for significant economic and tourism growth. Douala’s Mayor, Roger Mbassa Ndinè, highlighted the park as a step toward establishing Cameroon as a top-tier tourist destination, able to compete with global standards. Ultimately, the Douala-Dibamba Eastern Park aims to attract over two million visitors annually, both local and international.
