(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon’s oil revenue is forecasted to enter a downward trend starting in 2026. Projections for 2025 estimate revenues at CFA828.3 billion, up from CFA801 billion expected in 2024. According to the Economic and Budget Programming Document for 2025-2027, oil revenue is predicted to fall to CFA612.5 billion in 2026 and drop below CFA600 billion in 2027, hitting CFA580.6 billion.
The document, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, does not explain the reasons behind this bleak forecast. However, it may relate to the ongoing decline in oil production that Cameroon has experienced over the past few years. For instance, the monetary policy report from the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) states that Cameroon’s oil production is expected to fall to just over 3 million tons in 2024. This projected decrease means that production will have declined by 11.4% over three years.
Let’s note that oil revenues come from the sale of hydrocarbons produced in the country, including crude oil and liquefied natural gas. These figures also include income from taxes on oil companies operating in Cameroon.
