Cameroon’s Manufacturing Costs Surge by 5.5% in Q3 2024

(Business in Cameroon) – Between July and September 2024, production costs in Cameroon’s manufacturing sector rose significantly. According to the Industrial Producer Price Index (IPPI) published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), factory gate prices in this sector increased by 5.5% during the period.

This rise is notably higher than the 1.2% year-on-year increase recorded in the second quarter of 2024, according to official data from Cameroon’s statistics agency.

The INS report does not specify the causes of this surge in manufacturing costs. However, the data aligns with a broader trend observed across Cameroon’s industrial sector during the same period. The IPPI indicates that industrial production prices across all sectors rose by 5.7% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024.
