Cameroon’s CSPH Seeks Firms to Build Gas Storage Facility in Ebolowa

(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon’s Hydrocarbon Price Stabilization Fund (CSPH) announced Monday it is recruiting companies to build a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage and filling center in Ebolowa, in the southern region of Cameroon. The winning bidders will be responsible for building key infrastructure, including loading docks, pumping stations for products and fire safety, as well as nitrogen and air compressors. Their duties will also cover constructing administrative and technical buildings, access roads, rest areas, a generator station, an LPG bottle filling station, weighbridges, and safety buildings.

The selected companies will also construct a living base with recreational areas, a clinic, a cafeteria, and residential housing. CSPH is also hiring a project supervisor to oversee the construction. All bids must be submitted by September 18, 2024.

This project will be financed by CSPH’s investment budget for 2024 and 2025. Although the budget for the work was not disclosed, CSPH’s Director General, Okie Johnson Ndoh, mentioned that bidders must provide proof of access to a credit line or other financial resources of at least CFA2 billion to fund the center’s construction and CFA130 million for the living base. The construction is expected to take 24 months, while supervision will last 25 months.

Building this domestic gas storage facility aims to secure gas supply in the southern region at government-regulated prices. This is expected to lower the cost of domestic gas in the area, making it more affordable.
