(Business in Cameroon) – The law firm Dudieu Avocats, specializing in intellectual property litigation, has been selected by the Gabonese state and the municipality of Oyem to secure the intellectual assets of the “Oliguiville” project. This initiative, a city dedicated to biodiversity, is named after Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. Dudieu Avocats will manage copyrights, patents, industrial designs, and trademarks associated with the project.
This appointment follows the issuance on July 15, 2025, by the Gabonese Intellectual Property Office, of a certificate of authorship in favor of Jean Christophe Owono Nguema, special government delegate of Oyem and the project’s initiator. He had filed the necessary documents with the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) to register the “Oliguiville” trademark after initiating a claim to recover ownership of the brand, which had been fraudulently registered in April 2025.
In a statement following its recent appointment by the Libreville Commercial Court to assess software used in a legal dispute between Groupe BGFIBank and the company E-Doley Finance, Dudieu Avocats expressed appreciation. “We thank the Gabonese government and the municipality of Oyem for their renewed trust and for recognizing African expertise,” said Christian Dudieu Djomga, founder of Dudieu Avocats.
With a presence in several African countries, including Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the firm will now oversee the intellectual property protection of the “Oliguiville” project. The contract amount has not been disclosed.
The project will be developed over 1,779.7 hectares in the Ndava neighborhood and the village of Aloum, in the Kye canton. It will include residential housing, agricultural, commercial, and industrial infrastructure, as well as a multimodal transport system, bus stops, a hospital, schools, green spaces, and an area dedicated to recreation and worship.
