Cameroon wins two robusta awards at African Taste of Harvest 2026

Cameroonian coffee roasters won two awards at the African Taste of Harvest 2026, held from Feb. 4-6 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the sidelines of the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) annual conference, the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB) said on its website.

Cameroon won first place for natural robusta and third place in the “natural robusta produced by women” category, the NCCB said, highlighting the growing role of women in the country’s coffee sector.

The awards come as local coffee processing continues to diverge from cocoa. Unlike cocoa processing, which is largely controlled by foreign companies, coffee roasting in Cameroon remains predominantly driven by domestic operators. Locally processed products are regularly recognised internationally, according to the NCCB.

At the fourth edition of the Origin Roasted Coffee Awards, organised annually in France by the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Products (AVPA), Cameroon won five of the nine awards. The prizes were presented on April 4, 2018, in Yaoundé, during the International Cameroonian Coffee Festival, held alongside the sixth General Assembly of the African and Malagasy Robusta Coffee Agency (Acram).

Most of Cameroon’s international awards concern the robusta variety, which is more widely grown than arabica. NCCB data show robusta production reached 10,377 tons in the 2024-2025 season, compared with 1,260 tons for arabica, up 287 tons from the previous season. The Littoral and West regions account for 71.6% of coffee cherry volumes marketed.
