(Business in Cameroon) – The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) has launched a new digital platform, “Equip4Safety,” designed to simplify the acquisition of ground aviation equipment.
CCAA Director General Paule Avomo Assoumou Koki unveiled the platform on Monday at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Innovation Fair, which ran from September 21 to 22 in Montreal, Canada. The artificial intelligence-powered solution aims to remove procurement obstacles faced by many developing countries seeking equipment compliant with international standards.
“Equip4Safety” is a collaborative interface connecting airlines, airports, suppliers, and operators. Once operational, it will facilitate not only the purchase and sale of equipment but also the exchange of pre-owned gear, fostering a circular economy approach.
Avomo Assoumou Koki stated that the project is built on three pillars: accessibility, reliability, and sustainability. The goal is to offer ICAO standards compliance, enhanced safety, and the ecological reuse of equipment.
“Equip4Safety is a giant step toward a fairer and more equitable aviation sector, where safety is no longer a privilege but a universal reality. In an interconnected world, the safety of one nation is the safety of all nations,” the CCAA said.
The authority added that Cameroon is launching an international advocacy campaign to support the initiative, which is designed to ensure that every country, regardless of its wealth, can contribute to a safer global airspace.
The platform aligns with ICAO’s “No Country Left Behind” initiative, which promotes global aviation safety and inclusion. The initiative has already drawn interest from several states, including the United Arab Emirates, which is considering signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the CCAA.
