(Business in Cameroon) – The Cameroon Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR) announced the approval of 113 standards for livestock and aquaculture products. According to Chantal Andely, the acting director general of ANOR, these standards cover a wide range of activities in the pig, cattle, and fish farming sectors. The aim is to “improve the competitiveness of Cameroonian products in both national and international markets.”
The approval process was part of the Livestock and Aquaculture Value Chain Development Project (PDCVEP). This project, which costs CFA65 billion, is funded by a CFA55 billion loan from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and CFA10 billion from the Cameroonian government.
Launched officially in 2021, the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries, and Animal Industries states that “the PDCVEP aims to enhance the competitive and hygienic quality of beef, pork, and fish products over the next five years, while also increasing incomes for stakeholders and creating new jobs in the three value chains: the beef sector, the pig sector, and the fish sector.”
