(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon’s Ministry of Water and Energy, through the Coordination Unit of the Electricity Sector Reform Program (PRSE), has published the shortlist of companies and consortiums invited to bid for the update of the National Master Plan for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.
Funded by the International Development Association (IDA), a branch of the World Bank, the mission is part of the ongoing reform program for the electricity sector. It aims to provide Cameroon with an updated energy planning tool to support investments in generation, transmission, and distribution amid rising demand and a diversifying energy mix.
The shortlisted candidates include several major energy engineering firms: Électricité de France (EDF); IED Consult & HB Consults; the Artelia & Nodalis consortium; the Ginger & Sofreco & Genex consortium; the MRC & Seureca consortium; the Studi International & Ideaconsult International & Studi Cameroun consortium; and the Suez Consulting & Engie Impact & Fatsons Engineering consortium.
The consultant will be selected using the Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) method, based on a Full Technical Proposal (FTP).
The study aims to update Cameroon’s national electricity master plan to reflect new parameters linked to the energy transition, population growth, rural electrification, and renewable energy development. This strategic document will serve as a key roadmap for guiding future public and private investments in the country’s electricity sector.
