(Business in Cameroon) – Improving its road network remains a top priority for the Cameroonian government. For 2025, the country plans to complete 754.76 km of new paved roads, according to the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
This target represents a significant increase compared to last year’s goal of 656.95 km. The gap is even wider considering that only 397 km were actually paved in 2024. The government’s plans for 2025 include paving 754.76 km of new roads, with 149.56 km under the Triennial Growth Acceleration Plan. It also aims to build 509 meters of large-scale structures, rehabilitate 1,789 km of existing paved roads, repair 720 meters of major infrastructure, and maintain 504 km of paved roads. More than 2,500 km of dirt roads are also expected to be maintained.
The year is also set to see the launch of nine major road projects, covering a total of 555 km. Key projects include the 179 km Ebolowa-Kribi road via Akom II, estimated to cost CFA137 billion, and the Lolabé-Campo expressway.
