Cameroon Opens Applications for 100 Businesses to Access Formal Markets Through Certification

Cameroon has launched a call for expressions of interest to select 100 businesses and producer groups for a programme aimed at helping enterprises standardise and certify their products, according to a notice issued by the national coordination of the Support Operation for the Cameroonian Private Sector Affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic (OSSP-CMR).

The initiative targets very small enterprises, small businesses, artisans and legally registered cooperatives operating in selected regions of the country. Through the programme, participating firms will receive support to bring their products into compliance with national and international requirements, a step authorities say should improve product quality, strengthen competitiveness and facilitate access to more structured markets.

Eligibility is limited to businesses operating in the Littoral, Centre and West regions, as well as in economically affected zones including the Far North, North West and South West regions. Selected beneficiaries will receive technical assistance to obtain product certification, helping local producers meet recognised market requirements.

The initiative is implemented under the OSSP-CMR project, with support from development partners including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). It is carried out under the supervision of Cameroon’s Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, as part of broader efforts to support private sector recovery and competitiveness following the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the project coordination unit, the call for expressions of interest marks the operational phase of the initiative aimed at supporting Cameroonian enterprises affected by the economic consequences of the pandemic.

Interested enterprises and cooperatives are invited to submit their applications online through the OSSP-CMR digital platform by Sunday, 22 March 2026, by completing the designated form.
