(Business in Cameroon) – Production costs in Cameroon’s manufacturing sector increased by 4.9% year-on-year in the final quarter of 2024, according to the Industrial Production Price Index (IPPI) for Cameroon for Q4 2024, released on May 5, 2025, by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
“The sectors most impacted by this price surge are ‘paper and cardboard manufacturing, printing’ and ‘leather working, manufacturing of travel items and footwear’, with growth rates of 33.2% and 19.4% respectively,” the INS’s IPPI highlighted.
This rise in ex-factory prices within the manufacturing sector mirrored the broader trend observed across the entire Cameroonian industry during the same period (+5.9%) and contributed to sustained inflation in the country, as these cost increases are typically passed on to the final consumer.
