(Business in Cameroon) – Cameroon’s Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, launched on June 16 a restricted national tender under emergency procedures for urgent repairs on phase one of the Ebolowa-Ambam road, a 92-kilometer section located in the South region. This project is part of the broader Ebolowa-Ambam-Olamze road development program.
The deadline for submission of administrative, technical, and financial offers is set for July 17, 2025, before the ministry’s internal tender commission.
The planned works focus on pothole repairs, road resurfacing, shoulder improvements, and road signage installation. The project is scheduled to last eight months, with total financing of CFA15 billion spread across the Public Works Ministry’s investment budgets for 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Ongoing Maintenance Ahead of Main Project
Ahead of the larger project, Groupe Fixit, the company currently under contract for road maintenance, is already carrying out targeted pothole repairs between PK 25 and PK 30, covering the stretch between Ebolowa, Meyo Centre, and Ambam. The intervention is intended to keep the road passable and ensure safety along this critical corridor.
The Ebolowa-Ambam section forms part of National Road No. 2, a vital route for Cameroon’s South region. It plays a key role in supporting economic and social development by facilitating agricultural transport, improving cross-border connections with Equatorial Guinea, and contributing to regional integration efforts.
Rehabilitating this route is seen as essential for boosting living conditions in rural areas and enhancing trade between Cameroon and its neighbors.
