Cameroonian SMEs invited to India trade forums to explore market opportunities

Cameroon has announced new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access the Indian market, with two international buying and selling events scheduled for late April and early May 2026. The Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts confirmed that the events, organised by the India SME Forum under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme, will take place from April 26 to 28, 2026 in Mumbai and from May 1 to 3, 2026 in Visakhapatnam.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the initiative targets SME professional groups and corporations seeking to expand trade links, attract buyers, and explore partnerships in India’s large and diversified market. Interested promoters have been invited to register as buyers on the India SME Forum platform and coordinate logistics through the High Commission of India in Cameroon.

The India SME Forum, established in 2011, is described as the country’s largest not-for-profit organisation representing small and medium enterprises. It brings together more than 600,000 entrepreneurs, contributors and stakeholders across India. Its programmes are designed to support globally competitive SMEs by facilitating networking, investment linkages, and knowledge-sharing, while promoting an enabling business environment.

The planned trade events provide a platform for Cameroonian firms to connect with Indian counterparts, investors, and distributors. The forums typically feature sector-focused exhibitions, business-to-business meetings, and partnership discussions aimed at scaling SMEs into export-ready enterprises. The RAMP Programme, under India’s Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, focuses on improving productivity, market access, and competitiveness within the SME sector.

The announcement comes amid sustained trade relations between Cameroon and India. According to India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately $1.2 billion in 2022–2023, with Cameroon exporting crude oil, timber, and agricultural products, while India exports pharmaceuticals, machinery, textiles, and rice. Data from the International Trade Centre (ITC) also indicates that India remains one of Cameroon’s key trading partners in Asia, particularly in energy and manufactured goods.

Officials indicate that participation in the upcoming events is expected to support market diversification for Cameroonian SMEs and strengthen commercial ties with India’s private sector. The engagement aligns with broader efforts to integrate local enterprises into global value chains by improving access to international buyers and investment networks.

For practical arrangements, participants are required to complete online registration and liaise with the Indian High Commission in Yaounde for coordination.
