- The appointments aim to modernize operations and strengthen Hydrac’s market position.
- SNH tasked the new team with completing major infrastructure projects, including a laboratory and certification center.
Hydrocarbons Analyses and Controls Company (Hydrac) appointed a new management team, naming Roger Mbouemboue Njoya as chief executive officer and Jean Noël Mbida Nstama as deputy chief executive officer. Senior executives of Cameroon’s National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), Hydrac’s majority shareholder, installed the two executives on December 30, 2025.
The leadership change targeted operational and commercial objectives. During the installation ceremony, Nathalie Moudiki, representing the managing director of SNH, cited the need “to increase operational efficiency, strengthen market positioning, and initiate modernization.” She described the move as “a strategic restructuring that involves major changes in corporate governance, a structural reorganization of operations, and adjustments in customer relations. The objective is to preserve Hydrac’s essence and values, create new opportunities, and position the company for the future.”
Hydrac, which authorities created in January 1982 to safeguard Cameroon’s interests in petroleum transactions, now operates across a broader range of activities. The company conducts inspections in upstream and downstream petroleum sectors, performs regulatory technical controls, oversees construction technical inspections, carries out laboratory analyses, monitors environmental compliance, and delivers technical training.
SNH assigned the new chief executive a mandate “to restore Hydrac’s performance and modernize the company.” The roadmap also includes “finalizing ongoing projects, notably completing construction of the laboratory and the international certification center for non-destructive testing personnel; upgrading the hydraulic pressure testing bench; and building a gas cylinder requalification workshop,” the SNH representative said during the ceremony.
SNH presented the leadership pairing as aligned with these priorities. Roger Mbouemboue Njoya brings nearly 40 years of experience at Hydrac, which he joined in February 1988. He previously served as deputy chief executive and held roles covering human resources management, finance and budgeting, as well as control and planning. Internationally, he served as a board member of Hydrac Chad for 13 years and Hydrac Democratic Republic of Congo for 10 years, where the Cameroonian company operates subsidiaries.
Deputy chief executive Jean Noël Mbida Nstama joined from SNH, where he worked as commercial director and led renegotiations of crude cargo inspection contracts, administrative monitoring, and quality analysis of crude oil production. In that role, he collaborated closely with Hydrac over several years.
SNH set expectations that emphasized both execution and governance. Nathalie Moudiki urged the new executives “to work with agility and solidarity, while consolidating the values of managerial integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement of the company’s portfolio.”
