(Business in Cameroon) – Ecobank Group has appointed Emmanuel Wakili, currently Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Ecobank Cameroon, as Regional Head of Operations for Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa (CESA). The promotion, announced internally, adds to his existing responsibilities as Regional CFO for the same region.
In his new role, Wakili will work with regional leadership to implement Ecobank’s strategy across 18 markets in the CESA zone. He will oversee efforts to optimize capital allocation, strengthen governance, and improve operational efficiency.
His mandate also includes advancing the Group’s digital transformation, promoting innovation, enhancing customer experience, and reinforcing risk and compliance frameworks.
A Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), Wakili has more than 22 years of experience in banking and finance. He holds a master’s degree from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) and has completed executive programs such as the Global CEO Africa Program, organized by Strathmore Business School, Lagos Business School, and the Yale School of Management (US).
Before this appointment, he served as Interim Chief of Staff to the Chairman of Ecobank Group’s Board, where he helped coordinate strategic initiatives, strengthen governance, and enhance performance across the Group.
