Cameroon Launches National Incubator to Accelerate 40 High-Growth Startups


(Business in Cameroon) – On September 30, 2025, Cameroon’s Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (Minpmeesa) officially opened applications for its National Pilot Business Incubator (PNPE), seeking 40 entrepreneurs for its next cohort in Edéa.

The selected candidates are expected to undergo an intensive 20-week acceleration program that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, focusing heavily on technological and organizational innovation. The initiative is structured to guide early-stage businesses from the project phase to market-ready ventures poised for significant growth.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be at least 18 years old (as of January 1, 2025), hold a minimum BEPC diploma or equivalent, and be able to commit to in-person classes in Edéa. Projects must be in priority sectors, including agro-industry, forestry by-products (bamboo, rattan, straw), cotton-textile-leather, and digital technology. Legally registered businesses under three years old are also eligible to apply.

“The government is determined to provide young innovators with the tools and environment they need to transform ideas into competitive enterprises,” stated the Minister in the official release, adding that female entrepreneurs are strongly encouraged to apply. As SMEs constitute over 90% of Cameroon’s business landscape, this program is a strategic effort to stimulate job creation, increase value addition, and enhance market competitiveness. By focusing on nationally prioritized sectors, the incubator aims to build a pipeline of innovative companies capable of driving the country’s industrial transformation.
