ACEP Cameroun Profit Jumps 40.8% in 2024 on Loan Growth

(Business in Cameroon) – ACEP Cameroun, a microfinance institution specializing in financing very small businesses and rural communities, reported a net profit of 755.6 million CFA francs for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2024.

The profit represents a 40.8% year-on-year increase from the 536.5 million CFA francs earned in 2023, according to financial statements published by the Central African Stock Exchange (Bvmac). The result marks the company’s second-highest profit performance in four years, following a net profit of 905 million CFA francs in 2022.

A review of the financial statements shows the performance was driven by an increase in revenue from financial products, such as interest and loan commissions, combined with strong cost controls. The company’s net financial income has seen a continuous rise since 2021, reaching 7.7 billion CFA francs in 2024. This compares with 6.8 billion CFA francs in 2022 and 5.4 billion CFA francs in 2021, marking an increase of more than 2 billion CFA francs over the three-year period.

During a January 23, 2024, press conference celebrating the institution’s 25th anniversary, ACEP Cameroon reported providing 404 billion CFA francs in customer credit over the last 15 years. Of that total, 57 billion CFA francs went to the rural sector, including 21 billion CFA francs for agricultural financing. This positions the company as a key lender to the local agricultural sector, which officials have long described as historically underserved by credit in Cameroon.
