Camrail Invests Over CFA1 Billion in High-Performance Railway Wheels

Cameroon Railways (Camrail), the national railway concessionaire, has announced the acquisition of 683 high-performance monobloc wheels for its freight fleet. This investment, worth over 1 billion FCFA, was made in partnership with Bonatrans Group A.S, a global leader in railway components based in the Czech Republic.

Camrail stated that the new wheels are a key step in its strategy to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of its rolling stock. The upgrade will help sustain preventive maintenance efforts, reduce technical downtimes, and increase the availability of both freight wagons and locomotives.

A subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics, part of the French Bolloré Group, Camrail currently operates 1,393 wagons—including 140 special wagons—and 39 locomotives.
