Cameroon’s SNH Delivers Over 200,000 m³ of LPG from Bipaga in 7 Years

(Business in Cameroon) – The National Hydrocarbons Corporation of Cameroon (SNH) announced that it completed the loading of its 10,000th tanker truck at its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and oil depot in Bipaga, near Kribi in the South Region, on June 23.

With this milestone, SNH reports that it has delivered more than 200,000 cubic meters of LPG to the domestic market over the past seven years. This volume represents around 16 million 12-kg gas cylinders for household use.

The Bipaga depot has been operational since 2018, providing storage and loading facilities for LPG. SNH noted that since June 2020, it has been the country’s only local supply source. The LPG is transported by tanker trucks to marketers, who handle bottling before selling the product to consumers.

SNH also highlighted the economic benefits of the project, stating that the Bipaga operations have enabled the government to save about CFA13 billion in subsidies. The Cameroonian state subsidizes domestic gas to keep the price of a 12-kg bottle at CFA6,500. According to the Ministry of Water and Energy, the subsidy allocation dropped from CFA75 billion in 2022 to CFA43.6 billion in 2024.

In addition, SNH estimates that Bipaga’s operations have saved the country around CFA150 billion in foreign currency since 2018.
