CFA42.1bn Need for Road Maintenance in 2025 in Cameroon (Mintp)

(Business in Cameroon) – CFA42.1 billion has been requested to maintain unpaved roads in Cameroon this year, according to estimates by the Ministry of Public Works (Mintp). The department has identified 19 projects, totaling 1,337 kilometers of roads, which are set to be worked on this year. This comes as part of the overall effort to maintain the country’s vast network of 111,647 kilometers of unpaved roads.

Of the 19 identified projects, some are already over 50% complete, while others are yet to start. The Far North will benefit from the most projects, with five roads in need of maintenance there.

In addition to these projects, the Mintp has earmarked CFA106 billion for major repairs on four key routes, including Mora-Tchakamari in the Far North, Up Hill-Amour Mezam in the Northwest, Mbalmayo-Sangmelima in the Central-South, and the Lékié loop in the Central region. Over CFA54 billion is also allocated for 10 other maintenance projects across the nation.

The Ministry, headed by Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, also highlighted that over 2,100 kilometers of unpaved roads were maintained in 2024.
