(Business in Cameroon) – Production costs in Cameroon’s extractive industries climbed by 7.6% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to the Industrial Producer Price Index (IPPI) released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
This increase marks a shift from the 1.9% drop in production prices reported earlier in the year, during the first quarter. The INS noted that prices have remained mostly unchanged compared to the second quarter of 2024.
The rise in production costs isn’t limited to extractive industries. The INS reported that industrial production prices across the country were up by 5.7% year-on-year during the third quarter, reflecting a broader trend in Cameroon’s industrial sector.
