(Business in Cameroon) – In just over 10 days, the price of cocoa beans in Cameroon has risen by 200 to 300 CFA. As of December 6, 2024, the price per kilogram at the Douala port ranged between CFA 4,200 and CFA 4,500, official data showed. On November 25, prices ranged between CFA4,000 and CFA4,200.
Despite this rise during the 2024-2025 cocoa season, which officially started in August 2024, the prices remain lower than those seen in the 2023-2024 season when the price reached a record high of CFA 6,000 per kilogram.
Cocoa is one of Cameroon’s key export products. In 2023, the country exported 180,095 tons of cocoa beans, which was 55,445 tons less than in 2022. This generated over CFA 359 billion, making up 12% of Cameroon’s total export earnings for the year.
