As part of the Goethe-Découverte platform, the Goethe-Institut Kamerun presents the opening of an exhibition « Our dreams » by Dieudonné Djiela Kamgang.
Dieudonné Djiela Kamgang is the winner of the Goethe-Découverte 2024 competition in the visual arts category. Concerned about the place of children in contemporary society, whom he sees as a treasure and a beacon for the future. The graduate from the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Douala in Nkongsamba uses his works to depict the potential of the children around him through facial and bodily expressions, majestic, even sumptuous poses, against a background strewn with motifs from the Ndop royal courts of West Cameroon, which he rewrites while retaining their graphic syntax, meaning, and symbolism.
The winner of the Goethe-Découverte competition in the “visual arts” category intends to use his project to present the child metaphorically, which represents the glasses of the future and shows the change needed for a better future, a vision that is more secure and stable.

Initiated in 2015 by the Goethe-Institut Kamerun, Goethe-Découverte is a platform for promoting young Cameroonian artistic talent in several disciplines (comics, music, visual arts, theatre, dance, performance). The winners are selected by a jury of professionals following a competition and receive support in preparing and producing their creative project.
