(ACCESS BANK) – In an inspiring move towards fostering gender equality and empowering women in the corporate world, Access Bank Cameroon proudly announces the launch of the Access Women Network. This innovative initiative is designed to support, empower, and connect women across various sectors, representing a significant advancement in promoting gender diversity and equality in the bank.
The launch event, held at the Krystal Palace in Douala on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, was a significant milestone for the female staff of Access Bank. The evening began with a warm welcome from Doris Ateh, Head, Human Resources, Access Bank Cameroon.
This was followed by a powerful keynote address by Mrs. Soji-Okusanya Iyabo, the Executive Director of Corporate and Investment Banking at Access Bank Group Office and a Board Member of Access Bank Cameroon. Her speech resonated with the audience as she emphasized the importance of balancing career aspirations with personal commitments. She passionately stated, “Balancing career aspirations with personal commitments is essential. Family and God are invaluable, and I encourage all women to excel in their professional endeavors while nurturing their personal lives.” Mrs. Soji- Okusanya’s inspiring words underscored the bank’s dedication to supporting women in achieving harmony between work and life, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Madame Patience Melone, Chairperson of Access Bank Cameroon, captivated the audience with her insightful remarks on God, professionalism and leadership. She highlighted, “Focusing on God, being organized, and exhibiting charisma are key to success in your careers. Be the role models others can look up to in the industry.” Her message of perseverance and excellence left a lasting impression, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to integrity and dedication as fundamental principles for success. She further shared with the women, “My two core values are faith in God and the importance of family; I belief only God can help a woman stay organized in order to attain success.” Madame Melone’s address not only motivated attendees but also set a powerful example of the leadership qualities that the Access Women Network aims to nurture.
Doris Ateh, Head of Human Resources, delivered an engaging presentation that offered a comprehensive overview of the Access Women Network. She elaborated, “Our mission is to offer essential resources, tools, and a nurturing environment for women to thrive. This network is inclusive, welcoming former Access Bank staff, alumni, spouses of the bank’s male employees, and other female professionals in Cameroon.” Her detailed explanation highlighted the network’s inclusive nature and its goal to create a supportive ecosystem where women can advance both professionally and personally. By providing access to mentorship, training, and networking opportunities, the initiative aims to foster a community of empowered women poised to make significant contributions to their fields.
