(Business in Cameroon) – In 2023, Cameroon exported 60,738 tons of goods to Nigeria, with a total value of CFA39.5 billion, according to a report released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on August 19, 2024.
The report reveals that soap was the dominant product in Cameroon’s exports to Nigeria, accounting for 68% of the total. Other notable exports included cigars, which made up 8% of sales, compressed gas containers at 5%, and smaller quantities of veneer sheets, fruits, oilseeds, and cocoa beans.
Despite the significant volume of soap exports, Nigeria was only Cameroon’s third-largest African trading partner in 2023. Chad took the top spot, with 39.3% of Cameroon’s African market share, followed by South Africa at 12.6%, Nigeria at 10.4%, and the Central African Republic at 9.0%.
