Access Bank Cameroon Hosts Trade Forum to Enhance Growth within AfCFTA Framework


(ACCESS BANK) – Access Bank recently hosted its 2nd trade forum, providing customers with a comprehensive refresher on exchange regulations and a unique opportunity to engage with the bank’s local and international teams. This seminar underscored Access Bank’s commitment to strengthening the customer ecosystem by focusing on trade, while also delving into digital services, treasury optimization and value chain management.

The session commenced with a panel discussion on “BOOSTING TRADE IN AFRICA,” led by Access Bank Cameroon’s Managing Director, Mr. Ellis NZO ASU, who brought to light the potential implications of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement on the financing of African trade and how it could facilitate sustainable development via enhancements in infrastructure, transport, and taxation systems.

Following this enlightening discussion with the vendors, the symposium was set into motion as Ms. Emilia AGBOR NYENTY, Trade Manager Cameroon, provided the purpose for the forum to the audience. Access Bank Cameroon’s Managing Director, Mr. Ellis NZO ASU, in his welcome address expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of the clients and outlined the expansive global network of the bank which provides a robust platform which can be leveraged to grow their businesses.

Ms. AGBOR then introduced “The Premium Desk”, an innovative system designed by Access Bank to expedite transactions for key customers. She further provided the audience with information on the CEMAC Exchange Regulations, and Access Bank’s Wholesale Banking and Value chain solutions.

Mr. Alfred NYODOG and Mrs. Yvanna EKINDY shared case studies pertaining to import/export, technical assistance payments, travel, dividends payment, trademark fees, insurance, and reinsurance payments.

Access Bank UK Limited’s achievements in 2023 were highlighted by Mrs. Julie SOYINKA, Deputy Head of Commercial Banking and Mr. Justin MARIA, Branch Manager Access Bank UK Limited Paris Branch. Their services, including trade finance, commercial banking, asset management, private banking, and treasury, were also discussed.

Further sessions included presentations on treasury solutions by Mr. Jean Jaurès PETNGA, Head of Treasury, the value chain optimization by Mr. Eric Michel HAMAN, Team Lead Business Banking, and digital solutions by Mr. Roslin Dario BETNKEU, Head Digital Banking and Payments. The PAPSS project (Pan African Payments and Settlement System) was also presented by Ms. Uloma OJEAGBASE, Subsidiary Treasury Head.

Participants were given the floor to discuss their businesses and challenges, with their remarks and questions addressed by various bank representatives.
