(Business in Cameroon) – Douala Urban Community (CUD) is set to auction off seized vehicles and other items from impound lots, as announced in a statement signed on July 2, 2024, by Roger Mbassa Ndine, the city’s mayor. The auctions will take place on July 23 and 24 at the Youpwe municipal impound lot, on July 25 at the Bonamoussadi municipal impound lot, and at the Bonanjo municipal impound lot on July 26.
According to city officials, the auctions will adhere to standard public auction terms, including no warranties, cash payments, immediate removal of purchased items, and potential for overbidding. The sale prices will also include a 13% auction fee. A city official stated that these items were seized due to non-payment of taxes and fees required by the CUD.
The same source noted that this auction comes after several months of city announcements urging owners of seized vehicles and items to pay impound fees to retrieve their property, efforts that proved unsuccessful.
