About Course

The equitable distribution and uptake of COVID-19 vaccines, especially by high-risk and vulnerable priority-use groups, requires service delivery strategies tailored to the local context, requirements, and challenges. This guidance is intended for immunization programme staff in districts and health facilities who plan, implement, and/or monitor COVID-19 vaccination operations; and/or staff and stakeholders who support related health programmes (such as childhood immunization and antenatal care). This course presents an eight-step process for COVID-19 vaccination microplanning that includes periodic re-evaluation and adjustments to address challenges and leverage resources and opportunities.

What Will You Learn?

  • Describe how to develop a comprehensive microplan for implementing COVID-19 vaccination that targets priority-use groups in a catchment area.
  • Explain how to use human, material, and financial resources to tailor service delivery strategies to reach and vaccinate priority-use groups.
  • Use standard microplanning templates.
  • Identify when and how to re-evaluate a COVID-19 microplan and revise service delivery approaches.
  • Value the importance of integrating COVID-19 vaccination into planning for routine immunization and health system strengthening.
