(Business in Cameroon) – Factory prices in Cameroon’s metallurgy and steel manufacturing industry rose by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This increase is highlighted in the Industrial Producer Price Index (IPPI) recently published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
“This rise, although modest, contrasts with the series of declines recorded during the four quarters of 2023. Quarterly, prices increased by 2.6%,” noted the agency responsible for official statistics in Cameroon.
Overall, the IPPI indicates that in the first quarter of 2024, factory prices in the Cameroonian industrial sector increased by 0.9% year-on-year. This growth was primarily driven by the wood processing sector, which saw a 12.5% increase, and the textile industries, which experienced a 9% rise.
